Dude, Sustainable! Blog Review

frugally sustainable
About

In terms of sustainable living blogs, dudesustainable.com is tops! Put out a Google Search for sustainable living blogs or any other related search string, and Dude, Sustainable! pops up. Why? Because it's got a great blog, equal parts informative, inviting and entertaining. So what is Frugally Sustainable? According to her,  :
It's significant, because as I said, the challenge posed to us by global warming and climate change are the most important that we will confront in our lifetimes. It begs the fundamental question, "What kind of world do we want to leave to our children and our children's children?" I, for one, want to leave a world in which all of the cool, natural things that we explore on a weekly basis here in Northern California are still there for the taking, for my daughter to enjoy as she grows older, and for the rest of the world to learn to appreciate as I have. So the questions we ask, "how to go green?" or "why go green?" must be answered with unequivocal, well-thought-out answers and resources to match.
The blog focuses primarily upon Green Issues and experiences, and as such focus upon Robert's passions, namely, DIY, Climate Change mitigation, Environmental news and Gardening. He also hosts an immensely popular "Blog Hop," with more than 150 participants each week.

Strenghts
Not only is Dude, Sustainable! a reliably entertaining read, it's about as informative as the genre comes. Each week, Robert offers at least one, well-documented post on Climate Change news with a bent towards sustainability and creative reuse of everyday materials. Indeed, most of the subsections of his blog involves Environmental News in some way. Easy to digest lists are combined with lengthier, more abstract posts that work well for a more longform read. His greatest strength is the ability to combine useful, digestible information with a unique personal touch, or the feeling that you're just talking to a friend. His sub-pages aren't just collections of blog posts...they are supremely organized and offer easy navigation to find what you need.

Weaknesses
As is often the case with sites that are thorough, and with sites that have been around for a while, one wishes they could find an easy table of contents to show them an easy guide to ALL of the information on the site. Dude, Sustainable! is great in directing traffic to subsections, but less strong in giving us a global perspective.

What I Would Like to See

Because Dude, Sustainable! is such a magnet for other like minded green bloggers, I would like to see Robert discuss his experiences in blogging in a little greater detail. Her experience and success is the benchmark to which many of us strive, and any wisdom she could pass along would be of tremendous help to other green bloggers trying to change the world.

Final Grade - A+
